OBLATE FORMATION
When the aspirant’s application is accepted, (s)he is welcomed as a Novice Oblate at June convocation. The Novice Oblate is supported by the Dean of Oblate Life. Novice Oblate formation, a two-year program, is designed to assist the member in his/her continued discernment as an Oblate of The Companions of St. Luke.
During the first year, the Novice Oblate will pray Morning and Evening prayer (Matins and Vespers), learn how to meditate using Lectio Divina, study Benedictine spirituality, the Rule of St. Benedict as it relates to living out your Baptismal Vows, and the Constitution and Customary of The Companions of St. Luke.
In year two, the Novice Oblate will continue the prayer and meditation discipline developed in the first year and study what it means to be a Benedictine Oblate as a CSL member.
At the conclusion of the two-year formation period, the Novice Oblate may petition the Superior and Dean of Oblate Life for Full Oblation. If accepted, the Novice Oblate will profess the Benedictine promises of Obedience, Stability and Fidelity to Monastic Life before the community during a Eucharist at the June convocation.
